The crime branch of Mumbai Police arrested former CEO Partho Dasgupta of the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) from Pune district in the fake TRP scam, an official said.

He is the fifteenth person to be arrested in the case related to alleged manipulation of Television Rating Points (TRP) by some TV channels.

He has been arrested from Rajgad Police Station jurisdiction in Pune Rural and will be produced before the court on Friday, according to several media reports.

Dasgupta is the second person associated with the rating agency who has been arrested in the TRP rigging scam. Earlier, former BARC COO Romil Ramgarhia was also arrested by the Mumbai Police in same case.

The TRP scam came into light after a complain from a UP resident and later Mumbai Police also found out some leads which claimed some households were being bribed to tune into certain channels to ramp up their TRP.

Many prominent names including Arnab Goswami, Managing Director and Editor in Chief of Republic TV, and Republic CEO Vikas Khanchandani have been arrested in the alleged TRP manipulation case.
