Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated Kartavya Bhawan, a major addition to the national capital’s administrative infrastructure. Located on Kartavya Path, the building is envisioned as a centralized government complex aimed at enhancing governance efficiency, inter-departmental collaboration, and innovation.
A Unified Hub for Central Ministries
Kartavya Bhawan is designed to consolidate key ministries and departments that were previously spread across various locations in Delhi. Ministries moving into the complex include the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Rural Development, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, and the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA). This unification is expected to significantly reduce administrative delays and foster a more integrated decision-making process within the Central Government.
Designed for Efficiency and Sustainability
The new building has been constructed with an emphasis on modern architecture, sustainability, and digital infrastructure. It features green building standards, energy-efficient systems, and intelligent workspace design to support smoother functioning across departments. Kartavya Bhawan also incorporates shared conference facilities, digital collaboration zones, and advanced security infrastructure, aligning with the government’s “Digital India” and “Ease of Doing Governance” goals.

The inauguration of Kartavya Bhawan is being seen as a step toward next-generation governance.
