Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday announced a significant relief package for families devastated by this year’s floods. Speaking from Dera Baba Nanak, the Chief Minister said that 30,000 flood-affected families have been handed over approval letters for the construction of new homes, marking the beginning of a fresh chapter in their lives.
The announcement was made during a live address, where Mann emphasized the government’s commitment to rehabilitating all those who lost their homes and livelihood in the natural calamity.
A New Beginning for Flood-Hit Families
Mann said that the approval letters will enable families to start rebuilding immediately, ensuring that they no longer face uncertainty about their shelter.
“These letters are not just documents—they are hope, stability, and the promise of a dignified future,” he said.
Over the past months, heavy rainfall and overflowing rivers led to severe flooding in multiple districts of Punjab, causing widespread loss of property. Thousands of homes were damaged, leaving families in temporary shelters. The latest initiative aims to restore normalcy for these communities.
Government’s Relief and Rehabilitation Efforts
The Punjab government has been working on a multi-phase plan focused on:
