Shaheed Udham Singh Is Remembered For
Shaheed Udham Singh is remembered for assassinating British officer Michael O\’Dwyer in 1940 in London, as an act of retribution for the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar that claimed hundreds of innocent lives under colonial rule.
Calling him a symbol of courage and patriotism, CM Mann emphasized the importance of remembering such heroic acts in India\’s freedom struggle. He said Udham Singh’s legacy must be passed on to future generations to strengthen the spirit of nationalism and sacrifice.
Several events were held across Punjab and other parts of the country on the occasion, with citizens and leaders alike remembering the martyr for his unflinching commitment to justice and India\’s independence.
