CM Bhagwant Mann Convenes Special Assembly Session to Discuss Flood Situation, Rehabilitation and Farmers’ Welfare

Singh emphasized that the session, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, aims to address the challenges posed by natural disasters and to chalk out a long-term roadmap to make Punjab vibrant and resilient again. He underlined that floods not only devastate homes and infrastructure but also directly impact farmers, who are the backbone of Punjab’s economy.

“Rehabilitation and compensation for affected people, strengthening of embankments, scientific management of rivers, and new agricultural support measures will be key points of discussion,” Singh said.

CM Mann has been closely monitoring the flood-hit areas

The government has already initiated relief measures, including financial assistance, crop damage surveys, and on-ground rehabilitation work, but the Assembly will seek to evolve a comprehensive policy to prevent similar crises in the future.

Officials noted that CM Mann has been closely monitoring the flood-hit areas and has directed departments to work in coordination to ensure speedy relief. The upcoming policy discussions are also expected to include long-term environmental planning, water conservation projects, and insurance support for farmers.

By bringing the issue to the Assembly floor, the Punjab government hopes to create a unified strategy involving all stakeholders, ensuring that affected communities regain stability and the state’s agricultural sector bounces back stronger.
