Punjab News— Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney held a crucial meeting on Thursday to review and finalize land allocation for Water Treatment Plants (WTPs) as part of Punjab’s 24/7 canal-based water supply project. The initiative is a significant endeavor by the Punjab government under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme, aimed at providing uninterrupted water supply to various municipal councils across the state.
The meeting, attended by key officials, focused on the critical task of securing land for the WTPs in multiple municipal councils, including Khanna, Doraha, Payal, Jagraon, Mullanpur Dakha, Samrala, Machhiwara, Raikot, and Sahnewal. Among those present were Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Rupinder Pal Singh, District Development and Panchayats Officer Navdeep Kaur, officials from the Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board, and executive officers from the respective municipal councils.

The 24/7 canal-based water supply project is a key component of Punjab’s efforts to enhance water infrastructure, with the Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board serving as the executive agency.
