Punjab News: Government Announces Pension Service Portal to Benefit 3 Lakh Pensioners

The portal will ensure timely processing and release of pension amounts while addressing problems directly online.

In a major relief for over 3 lakh pensioners in Punjab, the state government has announced a new “Pension Service Portal” that will make the entire pension process digital, transparent, and hassle-free.

No More Office Visits

With the launch of this system, pensioners will no longer need to visit government offices or rely on recommendations from officials to resolve pension-related issues. The portal will ensure timely processing and release of pension amounts while addressing problems directly online.

Pilot Project in Six Departments

In its first phase, the project is being run as a pilot in six key departments, including Health, Education, Police, Water Supply, and Sanitation. Data of retiring employees is being uploaded to the portal, and all required No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) are being collected before forwarding details to banks. Additionally, records of existing pensioners are also being uploaded, allowing them to submit their annual life certificates online from home.

Direct Benefit to 3 Lakh Pensioners

The initiative is expected to directly benefit 3 lakh pensioners across Punjab. By digitizing the process, the government aims to eliminate delays, increase transparency, and end bureaucratic hurdles that often trouble retirees.

Grievance Box and Accountability

A special “Grievance Box” has been added to the portal, enabling pensioners to register complaints that will be directly addressed by concerned officials. Each task will have a fixed timeline, while senior officers in Chandigarh will monitor the entire process. Any official found deliberately delaying files will face strict action.

Full Rollout by Diwali

The government plans to fully dedicate the portal to pensioners by Diwali 2025. Once implemented, the pension system in Punjab will become completely digital, transparent, and corruption-free. However, the facility will apply only to government employees, not to board or corporation staff, as their service rules differ.
