Punjab News: The Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has reaffirmed its commitment to the development of Scheduled Castes by releasing ₹92 crore under the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for government institutions.
Clearing Past Dues to Build Trust
Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur emphasized that the government had earlier cleared outstanding payments of ₹366 crore for the years 2017-18 to 2019-20. This significant step aims to restore trust and confidence among students and institutions, ensuring uninterrupted access to educational benefits.
Focus on Educational Upliftment
The funds are intended to support Scheduled Caste students in pursuing higher education without financial constraints. The scheme also emphasizes enhancing enrollment and retention rates in higher education among marginalized communities.
Commitment to Equity and Welfare
Dr. Baljit Kaur highlighted the Mann Government’s holistic approach to empowering disadvantaged groups through educational reforms and timely implementation of welfare schemes. She added that such initiatives are instrumental in bridging social and economic gaps within society.
