Punjab Police, under the government of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is stepping up its fight against drugs and is taking strong action against drug crime networks all over the state. The Amritsar Commissionerate Police successfully caught a heroin smuggler gang that was working along the border with Pakistan. This was a big step forward in the state government’s efforts to get rid of drugs.
Bust and Arrest of a Gang
Four important members of the drug-smuggling gang were caught by police. Malkit Singh (50), from Dall village, and Gurjit Singh (29), from Kotli Saka village in Ajnala, Amritsar, are also on trial. Gurbhej Singh (50) and his son Gurdit Singh (22) are from Narla village in Tarn Taran. It is said that these people organized the illegal entry of heroin from Pakistan into India and sold it in India.
Twelve kilograms of heroin, a gun, and a magazine were found by the police. Police found out that the gang was crossing the line with heroin using drones. Once they got to India, the drugs were hidden in places like cow sheds and pits under farmlands, which made them very hard to find.
Leads for Investigation
This bust happened after four other people were caught with ties to Soni Singh, a famous drug dealer. The police confirmed that Gurbhej Singh was running things and getting heroin from dealers in Pakistan via drones. A lot of information was gathered for the coordinated investigation, the border was watched, and several police teams worked together.
The Promise of the Government
Punjab‘s Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has said many times that the state will not stand for the drug trade. He has asked people to work together, telling communities to take part in projects to raise awareness and help the police. To break up the drug supply chain, the Mann government has been putting in place strict measures like more border patrols, drone monitoring, and technology-enabled reporting systems.
Awareness and participation in the community
Along with law enforcement, the government is running campaigns to raise understanding about social issues. People are urged to report anything that seems fishy through special helplines and websites. The state has also started programs aimed at young people, offering alternatives like sports facilities, gyms, and training programs to keep drug abuse from spreading in areas that are already weak.
Impact and Plans for the Future
The latest bust shows how vigilant the Punjab Police are and how well CM Mann’s overall plan is working. Punjab is taking a strong stand against drug crime by using facts, technology, and community involvement. The government has stated that it will keep working to find and break up smuggling networks, which will make the state safer for its people.
