Salman Khan gets a gun licence after receiving a death threat.

Salman Khan, a well known Indian actor has been issued a firearm licence, a month after receiving anonymous death threats.

The Bollywood actor submitted an application for a licence, which the Mumbai Police granted him on Sunday. The “Dabangg” actor stated in his plea that he was looking for “self-protection” in light of the death threat letters that he had received from certain Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang members.

The actor has been given permission to keep a gun at home, according to a tweet from the news agency ANI on Monday. In its tweet, the agency cited an official Mumbai Police statement.

Salman Khan applied for a weapon licence for self-defense after receiving recent threat letters, according to a statement released by the Mumbai Police. “Actor Salman Khan has been issued an Arms licence,” the statement read.

The licence was printed following Khan’s meeting with Mumbai police commissioner Vivek Phansalkar earlier in July, a senior IPS official confirmed. According to reports, the actor applied for a gun not long after receiving the death threat.

Before the handgun licence was granted, the 56-year-old actor’s background and criminal history were investigated. After the required formalities had been completed, the Mumbai Police headquarters gave its clearance.

The Punjabi musician Sidhu Moose Wala was shot and killed in his car last May, and the actor and his scriptwriter father Salim Khan received a threat letter threatening them both in May.
