Shivani Singh from Varanasi becomes first female pilot of rafale

Flight Lieutenant Shivangi Singh from Varanasi will become the first woman pilot to fly the Rafale aircraft of the Indian Air Force. She has prepared to join Rafael’s squadron based in Ambala.

Commission received in the year 2017-
Flight Lieutenant Shivangi Singh was part of the batch of the second woman pilot of the Indian Air Force in 2017 who was commissioned as a fighter pilot. Flight Lieutenant Shivangi from Varanasi is currently on training. But in few days she will formally join the Golden Arrow Squadron. Significantly, in the year 2016, for the first time in the IAF, women were commissioned as fighter pilots.

Currently, Rafale pilot Lt Shivani Singh, who lives in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi district, will make a formal entry into the 17 ‘Golden Arrow’ squadron on the Ambala base. Earlier Shivani Mithri has flown the world’s fastest landing takeoff speed aircraft at a speed of 40 km per hour.

Singh has been selected to join the freshly-inducted Rafale fighter fleet as one of its crew flying the multi-role air dominance aircraft. She has played flown alongside Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, the IAF pilot who was held captive in Pakistan after shooting down a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) fighter on February 27 last year, as per reports.
