On Monday, a stampede at the Ausaneshwar Mahadev Temple in Barabanki\’s Haidergarh area killed two people and hurt 32 others. What was supposed to be a holy early morning routine during the holy month of Shravan turned into a scene of chaos and tragedy.
A lot of people come to the Jalabhishek ritual
People started coming to the temple early on Monday for jalabhishek, which is a common Shravan ritual where people give water to Lord Shiva every Monday. Witnesses say that there were more than a thousand worshippers at the spot when the stampede happened.
People are scared when they see a live wire
News reports at first said that the chaos started when a live electric wire fell on a tin shed inside the temple grounds. Reports say that monkeys jumped on the wire, and it broke. The wire then fell and created a current that went through the metal roof. People who were devoted were scared they would be electrocuted and started running in all directions, which made it look like a stampede.
The order of events was confirmed by District Magistrate Shashank Tripathi, who also said that an official probe has been launched. “The electric current on the tin shed seems to have caused the panic at first.” “We are looking into the situation very carefully,” he said.
People are hurt and need medical help
At the Trivediganj Community Health Centre (CHC), two devotees were pronounced dead. One was named Prashant, who is 22 years old and from Mubarakpur village, and the other was about 30 years old. Five of the 32 people who were hurt were said to be in serious condition. Most of the hurt people were taken to community health centres in Haidergarh and Trivediganj. One patient was sent to a more advanced medical facility because their condition was so bad.
CM Yogi Adityanath Pays Attention
Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, has taken the event very seriously and sent his condolences to the families of the people who died. He told the government to make sure the injured get the best medical care and to give a report on what happened and who is responsible.
The CM\’s office said in a statement, “Such things must not happen again.” The safety of worshippers is the most important thing at religious events, especially during the month of Shravan.
A New Call for Safety Steps
This event has raised worries again about how to handle large groups of people and keep buildings safe at major temples during festival times. A similar panic-driven rush happened at the Mansa Devi temple in Haridwar the day before, killing eight. The government is now under a lot of pressure to move quickly to stop more tragedies.
