SUVs fared in the last month Tata, Hyundai, Maruti, etc
Tata Nexon sales down somewhat from the prior month, but the sub-4m SUV nevertheless exceeded 14,000 units in July. Keep in mind that the Nexon EV is included in these numbers as well.
The Hyundai Venue was the only other SUV in its segment to surpass the 10,000-unit sales threshold, along with the Tata Nexon.
The Brezza, a sub-4-meter SUV from Maruti, came close to selling 10,000 units. Its month-over-month (MoM) figure increased by more than 120%. But its year over year (YoY) market share has decreased by around 7.5%.
As the automaker shipped slightly more than 7,200 units of the SUV, the Kia Sonet dropped from third to fourth place in July 2022.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser and Mahindra XUV300, with almost 6,800 and 6,000 units sold, respectively, took the next two positions after the Sonet. While the market share of the Toyota SUV was above 10%, that of the XUV300 decreased from almost 11% to 9.5% year over year.
Even in July, the last two positions on the chart were occupied by the Nissan Magnite and the Renault Kiger. The Kiger experienced the largest decrease in its MoM number, which was over 24%. In reality, it only just managed to surpass its normal six-month sales total with roughly 2,600 units sold.
