Tata Nexon EV: Twelve Tata Nexon EVs have been added to the fleet of the Indian Air Force (IAF). The IAF aims to progressively include the usage of electric vehicles into its operations, thus these EVs were marked off in the area surrounding the national capital to analyse and monitor their performance.
Tata Nexon EV: Why this EV?
For a number of reasons, the IAF was expected to choose Nexon EV. It is the most popular long-range mass market EV in the nation. While the Nexon EV Max, the top variant, can travel 437km, it promises to cover a range of more than 300km in its base trim. It should also be simpler to maintain in terms of routine maintenance and body repairs since many parts are shared with the standard internal combustion engine Nexon.

Other armoured vehicles
The Indian Armed Forces' addition of the Nexon EV to its fleet solidifies Tata's partnership with the IAF, which dates back to 1958. The automaker now offers specially designed armoured cars to the military. Installation of charging infrastructure at various IAF locations is one more step that needs to be taken in order to get ready for an EV environment.
Replacement of vehicles
A step toward adopting alternative mobility has also been taken by other branches of the Indian Armed Forces. This includes the Indian Army, which intends to switch to electric alternatives for 25% of light vehicles, 36% of buses, and 48% of two-wheelers. Additionally, the defence organisations have been putting charging stations in residential and commercial buildings in Delhi, Lucknow, Kolkata, and Pune.
