Top 5 Basic Bike Maintenance Tips: To keep your motorbike in excellent condition and continue to enjoy riding for many years, maintenance is essential. A well-maintained bike also offers you more safety. For information on routine check-ups, always refer to your motorcycle’s manual. Some general guidelines for checking your bike are provided below.

Top 5 Basic Bike Maintenance Tips You Must Know

Keep an eye on the oil

To find out how often you should change your oil, consult your manual. It is generally advised that you replace your oil at least once a year. Your bike will require more frequent changes if it has a high mileage. Similarly, the quality of your oil can degrade more quickly if you travel in dusty or unclean places, requiring more frequent changes than once a year. Make sure your oil is at the maximum or high level before driving.

Brakes

To ensure they are in proper operating order, test your brakes before every ride. The level of the brake fluid must also be checked. Brake fluid should be changed every one to two years, as per the instructions in your handbook, to maintain your brakes operating at their best. Verify your brake pads’ thickness as well. Before they are worn down to the metal, it is advised that they be changed.

Battery

When not in use, keep your battery fully charged to prolong its lifespan. This can be accomplished with a trickle charger. Ensure that the battery’s top is clean. To prevent it from being too low, check the electrolyte level. Add deionized or distilled water if it’s low.

Air filter

Make sure to clean your air filter on a regular basis. Compressed air can be used for this purpose. Your bike’s engine may have to work harder to start if your filter is dirty; clearing it will increase power. If cleaning your filter is a hassle, you can alternatively replace it.

Tyres

Check the air pressure and any wear-and-tear indicators. To ensure safe driving and prevent blowouts, maintain the proper air pressure at all times. The tyres are going to survive longer at the correct pressure.
