UP PGT Exam 2025 Update: Postponement Announced, New Dates Expected in August

People who want to take the Uttar Pradesh Post Graduate Teacher test 2025 have important information about when the test will be held. The Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Services Selection Board has publicly said that the Exam, was supposed to happen on June 18 and 19 will happen in the last week of August 2025.

These changes were made because of “unavoidable administrative reasons,” and the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) acknowledged this in a public notice. Even though the exact dates for August haven\’t been set in stone yet, candidates should keep a close eye on the UPSESSB and UPESSC websites for more information.

The UP PGT recruitment drive, which is part of the cycle for 2022, aims to hire 624 Postgraduate Teachers for a range of topics. Over four lakh people have applied for this highly anticipated test, making it a big deal for postgraduate degree holders who want to work as teachers in government-funded secondary schools in Uttar Pradesh.

TGT Exam as Planned

The UP Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) Exam 2025, on the other hand, will still happen on July 21 and 22, 2025, as planned. Those who want to be TGT candidates can expect to get their accept cards by July 12, 2025.

What You Need to Know to Apply for UP PGT

  • Exam dates originally planned for June 18 and 19, 2025

  • The new possible test dates are the last week of August 2025 (exact dates will be announced soon).

  • The admit card should be sent out 5–7 days before the new test date.

  • 624 PGT positions are open for the 2022 cycle. 

The news right now is about the 2022 cycle, but it\’s important to remember that there are likely to be 2522 openings for the 2025 cycle as well, even though there has been no public announcement about it yet.

How the selection works: initially based on a written test, with document checks for those who made the short list. For the 2022 cycle, the PGT selection process also includes an interview round and a special qualification round. The written exam is worth 425 marks, and the special qualifications are worth 25 marks, for a total of 500 marks.

Criteria for Eligibility: Those who want to apply must be at least 21 years old and have a Master\’s degree in the area. Most of the time, a B.Ed. or an equivalent qualification is recommended.
