Weather Alert in Uttarakhand
The landslide comes amid a rain alert issued across several regions of Uttarakhand, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting moderate to heavy rainfall until June 23. Authorities have warned pilgrims and tourists to remain cautious while traveling in the hills, especially on vulnerable routes like Kedarnath.
Rescue operations were swiftly launched after the incident, and the path was temporarily closed for safety. The state disaster response forces and local administration are on high alert, given the increased risk of landslides during the monsoon season.
Authorities have urged pilgrims to check weather updates and stay in contact with official yatra control rooms before setting out on the trek.
This incident has once again highlighted the fragile terrain and hazards associated with high-altitude pilgrimage routes, especially during the rainy season.
