Toll Tax Exemption in India: In India, every citizen is required to pay a toll tax which is utilized for the maintenance of highways and related infrastructure. But you might have seen vehicle who don't even stop at toll barriers as they don't need to pay toll tax. Have you wonder about the identity of these people who are exempted to pay toll tax in India. Vehicle providing emergency services such as Ambulance and fire brigade can run without paying any toll tax on highways. The government has given this exemption to these vehicle because stopping such vehicles in case of emergency can stop them reaching at the emergency spots.
Indian government has also exempted political personalities to pay toll tax in India. These personalities include President, Prime Minister, Lok Sabha President, Governor, Chief Minister, Members of Parliament and MLAs. Apart from these political personalities, Chief Justice of India and the Chief Justice of High Courts are also exempted from toll tax.
Government doesn't charges any toll tax from police, army and other forces, but for availing this exemption they are required to be in their uniforms while travelling.
Specially abled persons having respective certificate can also avail toll tax exemption in India. Apart from this, some states governments have also exempted farmers to pay toll tax.
