BJP Wins in Shashi Tharoor’s Bastion
BJP wins big time in Thiruvananthapuram and will have its first Mayor now. The NDA also registered another key victory by winning the Tripunithura Municipality, dislodging the ruling LDF.
Tripunithura, which is classified as an A-grade municipality had alternated between the UDF and the LDF for decades.
BJP also retained control of the Palakkad Municipality to consolidate its position in the key urban center.
The results signal an important breakthrough for the Bhartiya Janta Party in Kerala, especially the urban areas of Kerala where it has traditionally struggled.
