Mamata Banerjee: Ravindra Narayana Ravi, a former Indian Police Service bureaucrat before he became the Governor of Nagaland, Meghalaya and Tamil Nadu has been appointed as the new Governor of West Bengal, replacing CV Ananda Bose.
Mamata Banerjee Expresses Shock
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed shock and anger over the sudden replacement of Bose with Ravi. Interestingly, Mamata Banerjee has never appreciated Bose during this entire tenure. She never gave the office of Governor any form of respect but is now expressing shock over his dismissal. In fact, Bose termed Mamata as Lady Macbeth and openly commented that he would socially boycott Mamata Banerjee.
DON'T MISS
It was claimed by Mamata Banerjee that she was never consulted on the appointment of Tamil Nadu Governor as the Governor of West Bengal. She went on to add that the appointment erodes the dignity of states and democratic conventions.
Under the Indian Constitution, the Indian Government is under no obligation whatsoever to consult a sitting Chief Minister or anyone else before recommending or appointing a Governor or Lieutenant Governor. The appointment is made by the President by warrant under his hand and seal under Article 155 of the Constitution of India and there is absolutely no constitutional requirement for state consultation.

A user commented, “Why are you frightened Didi? Because the new Governor of West Bengal, RN Ravi ji, who is currently serving as the Governor of Tamil Nadu, is a retired Kerala-cadre IPS officer who has also served in CBI, IB & was deputy National Security Advisor in 2018, under NSA Doval ji?”
Another user wrote, “Those who barge in the middle of an investigative raid being done by ED & run away with evidence/s don’t have any right to talk about the Constitution of India and democratic conventions and dignity.”
Another user commented, “Look who is talking about Constitution and democracy!” A user said, “When you used brute police force to steal files from NIA and Siri officials that time you didn’t remember the Constitution.”
