Nitish Kumar: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar is likely to start a new chapter in his political career today. Kumar would likely submit his resignation as the state’s sitting Chief Minister today. This would pave the way for naming of the state’s first BJP CM for the first time.
Nitish Kumar-Amazing Feat
Kumar holds the rare feat of being elected to all four houses, matching the feat of former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav. Lalu Yadav was a member of the Bihar Legislative Council, Lok Sabha, Bihar Legislative Assembly and Rajya Sabha. Late BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi also held the record for being a member of all four Bihar houses.
DON'T MISS
The new Bihar CM’s name is likely to be announced by April 15. Nitish would now be allotted a high-security Type-8 government bungalow in New Delhi. According to senior leaders of the Janata Dal (United), renovation work is present undergoing at 3 houses in the Sunehri Bagh region.
The new Bihar CM’s name is likely to be announced after the end of Kharmas, a period considered inauspicious under the Hindu culture, on April 13.
Sanjay Kumar Jha, a Rajya Sabha MP and the working president of JD(U), remarked that the entire process of forming the next Bihar government with a BJP CM at the helm, is likely to start from April 14.
Would JD (U) Crumble Now?
With Nitish out of the CM position, JD (U) is now likely to lose its sheen in the state’s political circles. With no other leader as powerful as Nitish in the political party’s fray, JD (U) is likely to lose some of its “power teeth” in the state of Bihar.
Till date, Nitish has worked with three Prime Ministers (VP Singh, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Narendra Modi). Only Ram Vilas Paswan has worked with more PMs (VP Singh, HD Deve Gowda, Inder Kumar Gujral, Manmohan Singh, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Narendra Modi).
