8 killed in Tamil Nadu heavy-rain related incident, says minister

Tamil Nadu Disaster Management Minister KKSSR Ramachandran has stated eight people have died in rain-related incidents on Friday.

Two NDRF teams have been deployed in Chinglepet and another one is Kanchipuram for rescue and relief operations.

Referring to an order, educational institutions in Chennai, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Kallakurichi, Tuticorin, Nellai, Ramanathapuram, Pudukottai, Tanjore, Thiruvarur, Nagai, Cuddalore, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Trichy, Villupuram, Salem, Thiruvannamalai, Vellore, Ranipettai and Kanchipuram districts will remain closed on Saturday.

Waterlogging has bees reported at more 220 places in Chennai.
