The Australian team is struggling with fitness problems ahead of the four-Test series against India. Top batsman Steve Smith did not participate in the crucial practice session on Tuesday due to a swelling in his waist.
Smith spent about 10 minutes warm-up with his fellow players, which included some stretching exercises. After that he did not participate in the football season and went straight to the dressing room. His waist was twisted while picking up the ball.
Team physio David Beakley also accompanied him to the dressing room. The day-night test starts from Thursday. Smith is not expected to return to practice until Wednesday.
According to Australian media, a spokesman for the team said that there was no doubt about Smith's availability. The Australian camp did not make the matter that much, but Smith did not return to practice again.
Smith had a brilliant performance in the limited overs series and scored a century in two ODIs.
