Age Fraud Committee member writes to BAI President requesting immediate action against fudging of certificate

Age Fraud Committee of BAI (Badminton Association Of India) has sent a letter to leadership of National Sports Federations ( NSFs). Age Fraud Committee has informed about cases of age scams in All India Sub Junior Ranking of under 13.

The tournament is scheduled from June 28 to July 4 in Mohali

According to media reports a member of Age Fraud Committee has written to BAI President, panel chairman as well general secretary and referee. It has mentioned that players are allowed to participate in tournament only by giving medical certificates. This signifies that the players have not presented the registered birth certificate.

“As age fudging cases are rampant, there is prima facie reason to believe that many of these cases could be age fudging cases which calls for further detailed investigation,” said the letter.

“The BAI is requested to take urgent action in this matter as participation of overage players gives rise to frustration among honest players and parents leading to disillusionment with the entire system, besides giving negative image to BAI.”

396 players are under scrutiny also almost 40 out of the 232 male players and 21 out of the 164 females are participating by showing medical certificates only.

“As an immediate measure, referee may kindly be informed to take necessary action in the matter such as demanding additional documents, birth certificates, first standard school records, undertaking etc. from such players/parents,” said the letter.
