Ashleigh Barty win Australian Open, becomes first do so at home since 1978

Ashleigh Barty beat Dannielle Collins in the final to win the Australian Open 2022 women's singles title.

The top seeded Barty overturned a 5-1 deficit in the second set to beat the World No. 27 Collins in the summit clash.

She is the first home champions at the tournament since Chris O'Neil in 1978.

Barty's third Grand Slam crown and second out of last three after the Roland Garros 2019 and Wimbledon 2021.

It is World No. 1 Barty's 15th title overall, fourth on home soil and second in a row following her Adelaide triumph in the first week of 2022.
