Asia Cup 2023: In a shocking turn of events, it looks like Hardik Pandya will be snubbed off the vice-captaincy of India during Asia Cup 2023. According to the report by Times Of India, Jasprit Bumrah might get the deputy command of the team.
It is quite shocking as Bumrah just made his return after almost a year to the team. He played his first match since 2022 against Ireland. The ace speedster took two wickets in just the first over to show what India was missing.
On the other hand, when Hardik Pandya was given the command of team India against West Indies, he had an underwhelming out. Not only India lost the T20 series against West Indies, Pandya was only able to impress in one outing.
Hardik Pandya Sunbbed?
According to the reports, BCCI will announce the squad for Asia Cup 2023 by tomorrow. India is the only team that has not announced the squad as of yet. All the other participating nations have already announced their squad.
The major issues regarding the delay have been because of the injuries that the Indian camp is going through. The team will be announced on Monday at 1:30 PM in a press conference by the board.
Bumrah made his comeback a few days ago against Ireland and after an underwhelming tour by Hardik Pandya, he can be deputy for Rohit Sharma. It will be quite shocking as Hardik Padnya was looking like the front-runner for captaining team India in T20 World Cup in 2024.
Everyone Will Attend Asia Cup 2023 Selection Meeting
It has been reported that Rahul Dravid, Rohit Sharma, and Ajit Agarkar will attend the squad selection meeting. Ajit Agarkar wants to change the past precedents where the chief selectors did not attend the meeting.
India is looking to announce a 17-men squad as they would like to tackle the problems and try all combinations before ODI World Cup 2023. KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer will be subjected to fitness while Yuzevendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin will also be considered.
