Asia Cup 2023: Finally, the debacle has ended as former Pakistan captain Inzamam Ul Haq has been appointed as the new chief selector of the team. This will be the Pakistan legend's second stint at this post.

He served as Pakistan's chief selector from 2016 to 2019, when Pakistan saw a very small golden period. A period where new and explosive bowlers and batsmen came onto the scene. And the Pakistan cricket fans will be hopeful for a similar result again.

Pakistan Cricket Board has been mulling over the decision for quite some time now, with names like Mohammad Hafeez also thrown into the mix. But in the end, the position went to Inzamam.

No Longer Part Of Technical Committee

The former Pakistan international was appointed as a PCB cricket technical committee member. But after he is appointed the head coach, he will no longer be part of the committee.

Other players who are part of the technical committee alongside Inzamam are Mohammad Hafeez and Misbah Ul Haq, who is the head of the committee.

It has been reported that Inzamam will appoint and make his own team that will facilitate him during the decisions. But it won't be made immediately; for now, the squad will decide after discussions with the head coach and the team director.

Important Step Before Asia Cup 2023

Inzamam will take over the task immediately, and it will be hectic. He will be tasked to announce the squad for the Afghanistan series. After that, he will also be in charge of the squad for the Asia Cup 2023.

He is supposed to form his team by then. Therefore the ODI World Cup 2023 squad will be announced with the help of his team.
