Asian Athletics Championship: The Asian Athletics Championship is on fire at the Suphachalasai National Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. The tournament started on July 12 and will continue till July 16.

Today, on the third day, the Indian athletes were once again wonderful and bagged multiple medals for the country. It has been a wonderful tournament for Indian athletes so far and we hope it will continue like this.

Indian athletes have been bagging multiple medals from day 1. And they continued their impressive tally on the third day of the tournament as well. India is well placed on the third medal tally and can even jump on second if they perform well tomorrow.

Medal Galore

The Asian Athletics Championship is being held after a gap of four years. It was supposed to take place in 2021 but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. India might not beat their best efforts in AAC which was in 2017 where Indian athletes won 27 medals including 9 golds.

But their performances this year have been nothing short of wonderful as well. India has won 9 medals so far including 5 gold medals sitting on the same number of gold medals as China.

On the third day, Santhosh Kumar won the bronze medal in 400m hurdles whereas Sarvesh Anil Kushare won silver in the high jump. Long Jumper Murali Sreeshankar won the silver medal and qualified for the 2024 Olympics automatically.

Japan At The Top

Japan is sitting at the top of the medal tally with 24 medals in total including 11 golds. India and China both have 5 golds. Whereas China is in second position with 15 medals in total, as compared to India's 9.

Indian athletes have won 5 golds, 1 silver, and 3 bronzes so far. A record they are likely to improve on the final day.
