Asian Games 2023: A brilliant day for the Indian contingent at this year’s Asiad as they clinched their second gold medal. Earlier on Monday, the Men’s 10m Air Rifle team won the first gold medal for the nation.

After that, in a thrilling low-score encounter, the Indian women’s cricket team clinched the second gold for the nation. This was the first time that India had sent their cricket team to the Asian Games.

The girls played three matches in the tournament and were completely dominant in all three of them. They ruthlessly destroyed Malaysia’s bowling in the first match while ruining Bangladesh’s batting in the second.

Smriti Mandhana Heroics

Smriti Mandhana had been out of form for a decent amount of time now. She was unable to score good runs for the Blues in this tournament. But as a slow and tough pitch was ahead of us, everyone knew Mandhana was needed.

She did not disappoint as she played a gritty innings of 46 runs and led her team to move past a 100-run score. Jemimah Rodrigues was once again in the limelight and also played an important innings of 42 runs.

Other than these two no other batter was able to touch the double figure. But a score of 116 was enough on this tough pitch.

Sensational Bowling in Asian Games 2023

Indian team bowling performance had been brilliant in this year’s Asiad. They did not let any team touch the 100-run mark. Titas Sadhu was in the limelight in the final as she took 3 wickets while Rajeshwari Gaykwad took 2.

India stopped Sri Lanka at just 97 runs and won the match by 19 runs. After winning a silver medal in the Commonwealth Games, this is the second time that the Women’s cricket team has created history.

This was the first time that the Indian contingent for the Asian Games involved the cricket team and they made sure it was worth it.
