Asian Kabaddi Championship 2023: India Defeat Iran To Clinch The Title Record for 8th Time

Asian Kabaddi Championship 2023: Indian Kabaddi Team has made another record. The Asian Kabaddi Championship 2023 final was played between India and Iran earlier today in Busan, China. And India defeated Iran to clinch the title.

It was India's eighth title win, which is a record. India has won the title 8 times out of the 9 times the tournament has been held. This time the Asian Championship returned after a long hiatus of six years because of COVID.

The last edition of the Asian Championship was held back in 2017 in Tehran. This time the tournament featured 6 teams, including India, Iran, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Chinese Taipei, and Hong Kong.

Asian Kabaddi Championship 2023: Dominant India

India was completely dominant in Asian Kabaddi Championship 2023. They did not lose a single match throughout the tournament. India won 5 out of their 5 matches, scoring 288 points in the process and giving only 97 points.

Iran finished second on the table, winning four out of their five matches. Their only loss in the group stage came against India, which was their last group-stage match before the final. Chinese Taipei finished third, Japan was fourth, Korea got fourth, and Hong Kong finished last.

A Close Final

Both of India against Iran matches were close in terms of scorelines. While in the group stage, India nicked a close-call victory in a low-scoring match. India defeated Iran by a 33-28 scoreline in the group-stage match.

The final was neither this close nor this low scoring. The match's final score was 42-32 in favor of India. Even though the gap was small as compared to other opponents, India never looked in trouble against Iran.
