Aus Vs Eng Ashes 2023: The second test match of Ashes 2023 started, and Australia is comfortably on top after day 1. England won the toss and chose bowling, and by the end of the day, it turned out to be a wrong decision.

Apart from some breakthroughs, England got nothing the whole day. The biggest highlight for England yesterday was Jonny Bairstow picking up the oil protestor and throwing him out of the field. It was complete Australia's domination.

England tried to come back in the last hour, with Joe Root taking two wickets in the same over, but it was too late by then. Australia had already crossed 300 by then. England really needs to buckle up today if they want to stop Australia from touching 400, as Smith is still on strike.

Aus Vs Eng Ashes 2023: The Smudge Show

Smith came out in a different mood and smashed 25 runs in just 16 deliveries. And after that, he again decided to put on a classic Smith show. By the end of the first day, Smith was not out on 85 with 149 deliveries.

Travis Head continued his form from WTC 2023 Final, played a sensational inning, and scored 77 runs in just 73 deliveries before getting dismissed by Joe Root. Warner also scored a quick half-century and got out on 66 runs in just 88 deliveries. Khwaja was not able to ride on last match momentum, and Green was out on duck on just his third delivery.

Australia closed the day on 339/5 in 83 overs. Constant rains and interceptions by oil protestors made the game cut short by a few overs on day 1.

England's Fightback

In a true Aussie domination on the first day, we saw some glimpse of hope from England in very big intervals. Josh Tongue got the wickets of Usman Khawaja and David Warner in quick succession and brought England back into the game.

But after that, it was all Australia. By the end of the day, when England was on complete backfoot, Joe Root stuck twice in one over to end the day with some positivity. Both dismissals by Josh Tongue were absolutely beautiful.
