Babar Azam Scripts History; Equals Chris Gayle Record After A Brilliant Century; Watch Here

Babar Azam: Babar Azam has been tearing up the Lanka Premier League. He is the top scorer in the league with 211 runs in just four matches at an average of 52.75. And last night, he was on the next level entirely.

To guide them to a comfortable win, he scored a sensational 104 runs in just 59 deliveries for Colombo Strikers. This was Babar's first century in the Lanka Premier League, and more interestingly, it is his debut season.

Babar has achieved a tremendous record in T20 cricket with the century, leaving players like Virat Kohli behind. And after a very underwhelming start to this Lanka Premier League campaign, the Pakistan skipper has bounced back amazingly.

Equals Chris Gayle Record

This was Babar's tenth century in the T20 format of the game. With this, he has become the second player worldwide and the first in Asia to score ten centuries in the shortest game format.

Chris Gayle tops the chart with whopping 22 centuries, and Babar comes on second with 10. David Warner, Aaron Finch, and Micheal Clinger are behind him with eight centuries each. Meanwhile, Babar and Kilnger are the only two players on this list who have played less than 300 innings.

The Pakistan skipper has three International hundred to his name and has 30 centuries across all game formats. His 122 runs inning against South Africa is also the highest score by a Pakistan player in the T20 format.

Babar Azam is preparing for the Asia Cup 2023 with all his might. He will meet with Inzamam Ul Haq after Lanka Premier League to decide on the Afghanistan series and the Asia Cup 2023 team.
