Babar close to become 1st batter to claim ICC No.1 ranking in all three formats; Dhawan rises too in ODIs

Stand-in India captain Shikhar Dhawan has moved a place up in the latest ICC ODI batters rankings after his terrific performance against the West Indies.

Dhawan made 97 in the first ODI and struck another half-century in the third ODI against West Indies last Friday at the Port of Spain. India won the game by three runs.

Meanwhile, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam is close to becoming the No.1 batter in all formats of the game.

Babar is now at the third spot in ICC Test rankings. Veteran batter is just two spots away from becoming only cricketer reach at the top spot in all the three formats of the game.

Azam’s scores of 119 and 55 against Sri Lanka at Galle saw him reach a career high third ranking with a career best rating of 874 points. Azam, who was earlier in fourth place, overtook Australia’s Steve Smith to get into the top three.

England’s Joe Root with 923 points and Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne with 885 points are ahead of Azam in the Test rankings.
