CPL 2023: Scary Moment As Johnson Charles Got Hit In The Head By Dwayne Bravo; Watch Here

CPL 2023: We often forget how scary the game of cricket can be. It might be called a Gentlemen's Game, but when a leather ball is coming at you at 130 kph, nothing is gentlemen about it.

Many players have discussed how a leather ball is like a rock when it hits your body. Who can forget the onslaught that the Indian team received in the Border Gavaskar trophy 2021. Cheteshwar Pujara marks on the body are still fresh in our minds.

We have seen some unfortunate events as well. The Phil Hughes incident still haunts us now. CPL 2023 almost saw a similar incident when Dwayne Bravo's delivery hit Johnson Charles directly on the chin. It was a scary moment for everyone involved.

A Scary Moment In CPL 2023

The horrendous incident happened in the match between St. Lucia Kings and Trinbago Knight Riders. St. Lucia opening batsman Johnson Charles was facing Dwayne Bravo and tied an unorthodox shot.

The incident took place in the 12th over of the innings. On a full toss by Bravo, Charles decided to play a scoop shot. A high-risk high-reward shot that became too risky for its own good too quickly.

He hit the ball awkwardly and failed to get out of the way of the ball. The ball hit him directly on the jaw and knocked out his helmet. Thankfully, Charles avoided any kind of injury because it could have been a disaster.

Presence Of Mind

The pace of the ball knocked the helmet out of Charles's head and it went down towards the stump but even after getting hit by the ball, Charles showed amazing presence of mind and kicked the helmet out of the stump way.

The batsman got lucky as he avoided getting injured while also avoiding getting dismissed. He went on to score 37 runs which led his team to a good total of 167 runs in 20 overs.
