Cricket Records: Getting listed on Lord’s honour board is a dream for many cricketers. So far, Makhaya Ntini is the only South African to take a ten wicket haul at the Lord’s. It happened in 2003, during Ntini's second trip to the UK, when he had already made a name for himself as one of the bowling attack's leaders. In the second Test of the series, he had the chance to display this willingness and talent combination because he had already demonstrated it.
Ntini recorded a five-for at Lord's to dismiss England for 173 after a draw in Birmingham. He does not, however, concentrate on that particular innings for too long because, by that point in the game, Graeme Smith's 259 had eclipsed all bowling efforts.
Ntini's five-wicket haul in both innings of this game, which made him the first South African to appear on the Lord's honours board and take 10 wickets in a contest, must receive the praise despite the numerous great team and individual successes that occurred.
Several other records were broken in the match
He wasn't by himself, though. Inflicting England with their largest-ever first-innings deficit of 509, South Africa scored 682 for the loss of just six wickets, setting a record for their greatest total.
Many other records were seen happening during the match with one of them being Graeme Smith scoring 259 runs. He became the first South Africa to hit two double centuries against England. This was also the same match in which Gary Kirsten scored his first hundred.
Ntini retired in the year 2010 after playing in 101 test matches and snapping 390 wickets in them. He is regarded as one of the best to ever play for the Proteas.
