Cricket Viral Video: During Pakistan's tour of England in 1996, the Test series had just started when Pakistani batsman Ijaz Ahmed attempted a shot that can be considered as one of the worst in cricket history. He tried to hit the ball, but the outcome of his shot is quite comical and will make you laugh, since it resulted in one of the most absurd way of dismissal.

Ijaz Ahmed's comical dismissal vs ENG

During Pakistan's cricket tour of England in a Test match at Lord's, Wasim Akram captained the team and won the toss, choosing to bat first. Unfortunately, their start was poor as opener Aamer Sohail was dismissed lbw by England debutant Simon Brown with just seven runs on the board.

The second wicket is more memorable for the way it happened. While batting at three, Ijaz Ahmed was bowled by Dominic Cork in a fashion rarely seen even in amateur cricket, let alone in a Lord's Test match. Ijaz misjudged the trajectory of a Cork inswinger, placing his front foot well outside the off stump to a ball that pitched in line with the stumps and would eventually hit middle.

With Ijaz so far out of position, he didn't even attempt to play a shot at the ball, which ended up hitting the middle stump. Despite this disastrous opening, Ijaz bounced back to score an important 76 in the second innings on the same day at Lord's. He went on to have a successful series, with an average just under 70 and scoring 50 runs in every innings before being eventually dismissed. In the drawn Headingley Test, Ijaz top-scored for Pakistan with 141.

Pakistan managed to recover from the poor start to win the Test match, and Inzamam-ul-Haq's contribution of 218 runs over the course of the Test was significant. The team's victory also helped them win the series 2-0. What is particularly puzzling about Ijaz Ahmed's dismissal is the fact that he was a skilled and accomplished batsman. He ended his Test career with 12 Test centuries and a batting average of nearly 40. At the time of his dismissal in 1996, he was at the peak of his career and had been averaging 46 runs between the beginning of 1995 and the end of 1998.
