Cricket Viral Video: On July 2nd of last year, at the Edgbaston stadium in Birmingham, Jasprit Bumrah, playing for India against England, achieved a remarkable feat. As a tail-ender, Bumrah set a world record for the highest number of runs scored in a single over in Test cricket. Stuart Broad, England's top speedster, faced the brunt of Bumrah's batting prowess, conceding a staggering 35 runs in that particular over.
Out of the total 35 runs accumulated in that over, Jasprit Bumrah showcased his batting prowess by taking 29 runs with his own bat. The remaining six runs were obtained as extras. It's worth noting that the previous record for the highest runs scored in Test cricket belonged to West Indies cricket legend Brian Lara. He had achieved this feat back in 2003, scoring 28 runs off an over-delivered by South African spinner Robin Pieterson.
In Stuart Broad's opening delivery, Bumrah managed to score four runs off the bat. However, the second ball went wide and resulted in five additional runs for India. The subsequent delivery was a no-ball, which Bumrah took advantage of by hitting a six. Following that, Bumrah showcased his batting prowess by hitting the next three deliveries to the boundary, each resulting in four runs. On the fifth delivery, Bumrah struck another six, accumulating a total of 29 runs with his exceptional batting skills. Finally, on the last delivery of the over, Bumrah scored a single run, concluding an eventful and record-breaking over.
Bumrah's achievement of breaking Lara's record came as a surprise, considering that Lara was not renowned for his hard-hitting abilities. With a highest score of only 34 runs and a Test cricket average of just 6.21 before that extraordinary innings, Lara was not typically associated with powerhouse hitting.
Interestingly, Stuart Broad, the bowler who faced the wrath of Bumrah's batting onslaught, had previously experienced a similar fate. During the 2007 T20 World Cup, former Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh had smashed six sixes in a single over off Broad's bowling. It seems that Broad has encountered both sides of history-making batting performances, being at the receiving end of both Yuvraj Singh and Jasprit Bumrah's exceptional hitting skills.
