Cricket Viral Video: Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the former captain of the Indian cricket team known for his calm behaviour and the nickname “Captain Cool,” showed an unusual outburst of frustration during a tense India vs. Australia match. This occurred when the on-field umpires overturned a decision made by the third umpire, leading to strong reactions from both players and spectators.
MS Dhoni points finger to umpire
During the seventh ODI match between India and Australia in Brisbane in 2012, Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni stumped Australian batsman Michael Hussey off Suresh Raina’s delivery. However, upon video review, it became clear that Hussey’s foot was behind the crease when Dhoni dislodged the bails.
The incident unfolded during the 29th over, with on-field umpire Billy Bowden referring it to the third umpire, Bruce Oxenford. Following Michael Hussey’s stumping incident, the red signal flashed on the screen, signaling his dismissal. The Indian team commenced their celebrations, presuming Hussey was out and watched him head back to the pavilion. However, umpire Billy Bowden intervened, pursuing Hussey and instructing him to continue his innings as he was ultimately declared not out.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni, visibly angry by the decision, expressed his dissatisfaction to the on-field umpires and directed his frustration towards Bowden. Subsequently, the third umpire, Bruce Oxenford, clarified that he had correctly pressed the button, but a wrong decision was displayed on the big screen due to a technical glitch.
