Cricket Viral Video: The Border Gavaskar Trophy has always been a charged confrontation between two great cricketing sides i.e., India and Australia. In the last segment of BGT, there was much talk about the difficulty faced by the Aussie batters in front of star Indian off-break spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin. Well, it is not happening for the first time when an Indian spinner has caused trouble to Kangaroo batters in the subcontinent. Once, Harbhajan Singh completely dismantled the Aussie lineup by picking up 15 wickets alone in a match.

Harbhajan Singh’s destructive bowling

In the third test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy, played in Chennai in 2001, it was Harbhajan Singh who completely dismantled the Australian batting line-up. Harbhajan Singh remained in limelight as long as he played on the field, mostly because of his hard-to-read bowling action and creative deliveries. In that match against Australia, he alone took 15 wickets (7 in the first innings and 8 in the second one). The video clip of his dismissals from 2001 has gone viral after two decades on social media.

Australia has always been a strong team, especially when it comes to batting. The batting line-up which was completely uprooted by Harbhajan had some of the biggest names in the cricketing world at that time. The batters who were sent back to the pavilion in the first innings included Matthew Hayden, Justin Langer, Ricky Ponting (on a first ball duck), Adam Gilchrist (on 1), Shane Warne (on a duck), Jason Gillespie (on a duck) and Colin Miller (on a duck) in the first innings. Glenn McGrath was the only man who remained not out in the first innings.

In the second innings, the fans got to see a more destructive action replay of this performance when Bhajji bagged 8 more wickets to make his final tally 15. His performance in this match, earned him the title of “Terminator” since he terminated, almost the entire top and middle order of the Australian side. His 15-wicket performance helped India in securing an important, decisive victory by two wickets in a three-match test series which was levelled by 1-1 before this match.
