In the second T20I of the series against Sri Lanka, Rohit Sharma was determined to secure victory. India had won the previous match by a wide margin, offering them the chance to clinch the series early. Rohit, leading the team in the absence of Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni, took it upon himself to lead by example. Despite Sri Lanka’s decision to bowl first at the Holkar Stadium in Indore, known for its favorable chasing conditions, Rohit and KL Rahul’s exceptional partnership left Sri Lanka struggling.
The pair notched a spectacular 165-run partnership in a mere 12.4 overs. KL Rahul fell short of his century by just 11 runs before getting dismissed. However, Rohit Sharma matched David Miller’s record for the fastest T20I century in just 35 balls. Rohit eventually departed after amassing 118 runs from 43 deliveries, treating the crowd to 12 fours and 10 sixes, accounting for 108 runs from boundaries alone.

Despite their efforts, Sri Lanka failed to chase the imposing total of 260, ultimately collapsing for a mere 172 runs. India secured victory with an impressive 88-run margin, thereby winning the series.
