Cricket Viral Video: Wasim Akram is considered as one of the most dangerous fast bowlers in the history of cricket. Several specialists have often referred to him as the best left-arm pacer of all time but in 1996 Akram turned the heads of the cricketing world towards him, not through his magical bowling. It was his merciless, unstoppable hitting against Zimbabwe which made him famous overnight as a hitter with the bat. With 22 fours and 12 huge sixes, Akram’s inning became immortal in the history of cricket.

Wasim Akram's batting heroics

Zimbabwe mounted a total of 375 in front of Pakistan in the first innings in Sheikhpura, Pakistan. Pakistan was struggling to put a respectable score in response on board. The team was at 183-6 and suddenly they lost another wicket. Set batter Saleem Malik was gone on 52 when the team’s total reached 237. It was Pakistan’s seventh wicket. After this, whatever happened on the field became an unforgettable moment for generations of cricket lovers.

Wasim Akram and Saqlain Mushtaq made a partnership of 213 runs for the eighth wicket. Wasim Akram alone scored a mammoth 257* out of 363 deliveries, including 22 boundaries and 12 charged-up sixes. Back in the day when T20 cricket was not introduced Akram’s hitting in test format gave goosebumps to those who witnessed it. Throughout his career, Akram scored two more hundred in international cricket but this 257* against Zimbabwe was a more special, valuable and memorable one as it came when the team needed it the most.
