Cricket Viral Video: Babar Azam, the star cricketer of Pakistan, is widely considered as one of the best batters of the modern generation. Despite Pakistan's national team struggling to maintain winning momentum in all formats, Babar Azam's performance in the last few years has been nothing short of sensational.
Azam, who made his international debut for Pakistan in 2015, has come a long way from his humble beginnings. He started playing cricket in 2007 and was passionate about the game. He was also eager to watch international stars demonstrate their world-class skills in front of him. As Azam himself puts it, this was the beginning of his journey towards becoming the best player in the world.
In 2007, during South Africa's tour of Pakistan, Babar Azam worked as a ball picker at the Gaddafi Stadium. The youngster used to travel on foot from Gulberg to Gaddafi Stadium for this job. Although many cricket enthusiasts remember Azam's debut against Zimbabwe at the same venue, the Pakistani batsman had actually started his journey much earlier when he worked as a ball picker during the South African tour.
It was during the 42nd over of South Africa's innings in the fifth ODI when a young Azam had his first on-screen appearance by taking a stunning catch while working as a ball boy. Even the commentator on-air praised Babar for his skills stating, "Well caught by the ball-boy, I must say he made that look easy."
