Cricket Viral Video: Many fans admire MS Dhoni, the former captain of India’s cricket team, for his tactical skills. He has often surprised his opponents with his clever thinking. During a match between India and Pakistan in 2007 in Guwahati, Dhoni demonstrated his ability to read the game brilliantly. Shahid Afridi, who was playing very well that day, was tricked by Dhoni and Tendulkar’s smart strategy and had to leave the field feeling embarrassed.
Dhoni and Tendulkar bowl out Afridi
The incident took place when India and Pakistan met in the first match of their five-match ODI series in 2007. The Pakistan team was batting first and they were off to a positive start. Explosive batter Shahid Afridi had the platform set and he had the important task of helping his side finish with a flurry. With Dhoni tossing the ball to part-time spinner Sachin Tendulkar, it was evident that the Pakistani batsman would look to accelerate in the over.
On the second delivery of the over, the right-handed batsman moved forward and hit the ball through the cover region for a boundary. The Indian wicketkeeper, MS Dhoni, predicted that the batsman would try to play a similar shot by moving forward again, and signalled to the spinner, Sachin Tendulkar, to bowl the ball wide of the crease on the offside. Unaware of this strategy, Shahid Afridi danced down the wicket again, only to be caught out by the wicketkeeper. Afridi had scored 31 runs from 32 balls before being dismissed.
