During the 1998 tour of India, under the captaincy of Mark Taylor, the Australian cricket team found themselves in a challenging situation. Having lost the first two matches of the series, they arrived in Bengaluru for the third test match. The Indian team, boasting iconic players such as Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and Navjot Singh Sidhu, was determined to clinch a series victory against the formidable Australians. The anticipation was high for a thrilling encounter as Shane Warne and his teammates were prepared to give their all to prevent a clean sweep by the Indians.
In the scenic city of Bengaluru, the third Test match of the India-Australia series unfolded with great anticipation. Opting to bat first after winning the toss, the Indian team got off to a solid start, thanks to the impressive innings of Navjot Singh Sidhu. Displaying his skill and power, Sidhu crafted a well-compiled 74 runs, including eight boundaries and three towering sixes. It was against the legendary Shane Warne that Sidhu unleashed some of his most memorable shots, leaving spectators in awe.
Not content with his first-innings performance, Sidhu continued his onslaught in the second innings. He showcased his aggressive intent by smashing 44 runs off just 62 deliveries. His attacking innings consisted of six boundaries and a commanding six, further highlighting his ability to dominate the Australian bowling attack.

Despite India’s initial lead of a 24-run lead in the first innings, Australia made a strong comeback, securing a resounding victory by 8 wickets in the dead-rubber match, thereby preventing a series whitewash.
