Cricket Viral Video: On March 29, 2004, India played Pakistan in a Test cricket match in Multan. Virender Sehwag created history by becoming the first Indian to score a triple century. His incredible knock was so remarkable that it overshadowed another long inning from Sachin Tendulkar, who was close to scoring a double century. However, India’s captain, Rahul Dravid, made the controversial decision to declare the innings while Tendulkar was on 194, causing many fans and media to raise questions and make remarks. Even after 14 years, people continue to discuss and debate this decision.

What had actually happened?

On the second day of the game, at the tea break, India scored 588 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. Sachin Tendulkar was still unbeaten on 165 and Yuvraj Singh was with him on 11 runs. India wanted to score as many runs as possible to make Pakistan bat towards the end of the day’s play. Sachin had about 15 overs left to score 35 more runs and achieve his 200-run mark. After the tea break, Sachin played at a good pace and scored 29 runs in 35 balls during the final session. Unfortunately, Yuvraj got out on the fifth ball of the same over after keeping the strike for a while.

After Yuvraj Singh was dismissed on the fifth ball of an over, Rahul Dravid made a bold decision to declare India’s innings closed at 675/5. Despite not taking any wickets on the second day, India still managed to limit Pakistan to 407 in their first innings, taking a 268-run lead. India then enforced the follow-on, allowing them to bowl out Pakistan for 216 in their second innings and secure a dominant victory by an innings and 52 runs.
