Roelof van de Merwe takes everyone by surprise

During the match between Welsh Fire and Birmingham Phoenix, Welsh Fire's Moeen Ali encountered dismissal after scoring a 17 off 13 balls. Roelof van der Merwe pulled off a one-handed stunner as the ball ricocheted off his head. Moeen took a swing at a good-length delivery from David Payne, aiming towards long-on.

Van der Merwe charged forward and positioned himself under the ball, but unfortunately, it slipped out of his grasp, bouncing off his head and then his shoulder before deflecting to the right of the fielder. The catch attempt appeared to waver as he struggled to regain control, creating a moment of missed opportunity.

Nonetheless, van der Merwe's remarkable alertness came into play as he promptly dove to his right, stretching out his hand to make the catch. His unwavering focus on the ball paid off as he managed to secure it, leaving everyone in a state of amazement. Joe Root, who was providing commentary on Sky Sports at the time of the incident, aptly described it as "absolutely crazy."
