Cricket Viral Video: In the final match of the triangular series in 1997, India squared off against Zimbabwe in Sharjah. It was during this game that Sourav Ganguly delivered an unforgettable batting display, although it nearly got overshadowed by the remarkable show put on by Sachin Tendulkar. Known affectionately as the Prince of Kolkata, Ganguly showcased his exceptional skills as an opening batsman for the Indian team. The iconic voices of Michael Holding and Tony Greig, renowned commentators, were fortunate enough to witness Ganguly’s spectacular performance from the prime seats in the stadium.

Ganguly goes berserk

Against the experienced all-rounder Grant Flower, Ganguly opted for the smashing approach and sent the ball sailing over the boundary ropes with three impressive sixes. This stunning batting exhibition momentarily diverted the attention away from Tendulkar. The remarkable showcase of skill led commentator Tony Greig to bestow a special honour on Ganguly – he decided to rename the roof of the Sharjah stadium after the Indian opener of that time. He stated, “That’s it. That’s another one. That’s a biggie! He loves that roof! He loves that roof. That’s three on the roof, three lost balls. That could’ve been called Ganguly’s roof.”

In the pursuit of a target of 197 by Zimbabwe under the leadership of Alistair Campbell, the Indian cricket team took to the field. As Tendulkar engaged in dismantling the Zimbabwean bowling attack, Ganguly assumed the role of offering stability and acting as the anchor for India’s chase. Even though Ganguly delivered a noteworthy performance of an unbeaten 63 from 90 balls, his contributions found themselves cast in the shadow of Tendulkar’s exceptional century – a match-winning 124 off 92 deliveries.
