Cricket Viral Video

Cricket Viral Video: Only an Indian fan can truly comprehend the emotions evoked by the image of Sourav Ganguly removing his jersey at Lord’s balcony in 2002. This win was not just a triumph but also a message to other teams that India would not surrender to any opponent. While Ganguly’s exuberant celebrations may have seemed excessive, they were justified. The reason is, that was first done by Andrew Flintoff on Indian soil.

Andrew Flintoff took off his shirt in Mumbai

The reason dates back to July of the same year when Andrew Flintoff had performed a similar act. In the final game of a six-match ODI series between India and England, held at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the hosts were leading 3-2, and a victory in the final game would secure the series. As the match went down to the wire, India required 11 runs from the last over.

Nasser Hussain, the captain of the English team, entrusted Andrew Flintoff with the task of bowling the final over. The first three deliveries yielded only five runs, and it appeared that the pairing of Hemang Badani and Anil Kumble might pull off the victory. However, things did not go as planned. Kumble was run out on the fourth delivery, and Javagal Srinath, the number 11 batsman, was bowled on the next ball, resulting in an Indian defeat. England emerged victorious in the sixth ODI, and the series concluded in a tie.

Flintoff was hailed as a hero by the English team, and he celebrated by performing wild antics in front of thousands of Indian fans, which hurt the Indian team and supporters. However, Sourav Ganguly soon exacted revenge by removing his own jersey to celebrate India’s victory over England at Lord’s. Although the former Indian captain now regrets this action, it remains one of the most iconic moments in Indian cricket history.
