Cricket Viral Video: During the 1998 Coca-Cola Cup final held at Eden Gardens, Sachin Tendulkar and Ajay Jadeja graciously allowed one another to achieve their individual milestones. In 1998, India extended an invitation to Kenya and Bangladesh for triangular series, who had emerged as finalists in the 1997 ICC Trophy (World Cup qualifiers), to engage in cricketing battles amidst the scorching heat of May. The Kenyan cricket team had already garnered significant popularity in India following their victory against the West Indies at the World Cup in Pune two years prior, further cementing their reputation in the eyes of local fans.

Intriguing battle of Cricket

During the final match in Calcutta, the Kenyan side faced a challenging situation as Venkatesh Prasad (4-23) and Ajit Agarkar (3-31) combined to reduce them to a precarious 23-4. Anil Kumble (2-34) also contributed to the onslaught, leaving Kenya struggling. Despite this, only Hitesh Modi (71) managed to withstand the onslaught, as the team’s innings eventually came to a close at 196 runs.

Initiating a swift beginning, Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly swiftly amassed 77 runs in 80 balls. However, their momentum was halted when Joseph Angara (1-37) dismissed Ganguly (36). Undeterred, Tendulkar persisted alongside Ajay Jadeja, and triumph appeared within reach. As India’s score surpassed 150, the primary point of intrigue centered around whether Tendulkar would secure his 16th ODI century. In this pursuit, Jadeja, renowned for his skill in rotating strike, gracefully took a step back, allowing the audience to erupt in cheers with each progressive run.

Sachin Tendulkar and Ajay Jadeja complete milestone

With India standing at 96 runs and requiring a mere 14 to secure victory in 97 balls, Sachin Tendulkar found himself at the score of 96. At this point, Kenya had turned to the medium-paced deliveries of Shah. Showing his brilliance, Tendulkar emphatically dispatched the final ball of the over for boundary and completed his century in 103 balls.

As the jubilation from Tendulkar’s accomplishment reduced, attention shifted to Ajay Jadeja. Jadeja’s contribution of 41 runs from 59 deliveries, a tally devoid of a single boundary, became the focal point. With the target now requiring just nine runs from ten balls, Jadeja pulled and executed a cut against Thomas Odoyo, securing two crucial fours.

Reaching his half-century required Ajay Jadeja to secure a single run off the last delivery of the over. Employing a well-executed leg-glance, he accomplished this task and marked his milestone. Ultimately, the scorecard displayed a final tally of Tendulkar at 100 runs and Jadeja at 50 runs.
