Batter hits uncanny shot

The youngest Test player in England’s history concluded the initial day of the match with an unbeaten score of 38 runs. This morning, he swiftly approached his half-century. In the fourth over, when he was on 48 runs, he prepared to pull a delivery from Michael Nesser towards the leg side. However, the short-pitched ball unexpectedly gained altitude as it approached the batsman, causing him to alter his shot to avoid getting hit near his head. Eventually, he managed to play the ball towards mid-on, finishing the shot by twirling his bat over his head.

The helicopter shot was made famous by former Indian captain MS Dhoni, who used it to great effect in limited-overs cricket. However, Ahmed’s rendition of the shot took it to a whole new level. The right-handed batter used a horizontal bat to play a short delivery from the bowler, but instead of hitting it straight, he suddenly swivelled his wrists, sending the ball soaring in the direction of the boundary line.

At the time of his dismissal, Leicestershire’s first innings total stood at 345-6, with Rehan being the highest run-scorer for the team thus far.
